Excited about the new season just like we are and can’t wait for spring and summer? That’s perfect. Well, then you’ve come to the right place. Although many countries are still on lockdown for the most part, we love to get in the mood for a new season with beautiful new fashions. This is why we took a look around among the blogger girls and in the famous fashion label stores and went in search of the most important fashion trends for spring/summer 2021.
What’s great about the new styles is that everyone is guaranteed to find what they’re looking for. Apart from comfortable loungewear and casual oversize looks, eye-catching pieces that show a lot of skin are also increasingly in demand again. Let us show you which trends you should definitely not miss, how to style them correctly and where you can shop them.
1. 2021 Fashion Trends: Mesh is back
Fishnet clothing and accessories are in greater demand in spring and summer 2021 than they have been for a long time. However, don’t worry: if you’re thinking of fishnet tights right now, then you are wrong. After all, fishnet is making an appearance in the new season in the form of holey dresses, summery tops and comfortable pants. And even bags in net look are extremely popular at the moment.
How to combine? Again, less is more. Focus on neutral colors and simple basics as styling partners. That way, the whole look can even appear really elegant. On the other hand, the combination of flashy colors and fishnet fabrics rather screams 90s faux pas or techno festival.
All designers agree: cut-outs and lace-up details are among the most important fashion trends for the spring and summer of 2021. No matter if it’s dresses, shirts or trousers – if you want to be one of the trendsetters, you shouldn’t shy away from the look of these bold style pieces.
Both cut-outs and lace-ups immediately spice up any look and turn plain pieces into real highlights. Furthermore, the refined details provide beautiful insights and let some skin subtly peek out.
When it comes to styling, less is more. As cut-outs and lace-up details alone attract enough attention and can quickly look very sexy, we recommend that you choose loosely cut and restrained combination pairs to go with your favorite piece. You should also avoid too many prints and colors and instead go for calm tones like black, gray, beige and white.
As a counter-trend to comfortable loungewear and oversize fashion, this year’s spring and summer season is seeing a return of focus on feminine costumes. But no worries. These new trendy costumes have absolutely nothing in common with the stuffy pieces we remember from the past or with which we often associate the stuffy banker’s wife look.
The costume 2.0 now includes two real eye-catching pieces, which will definitely cause quite a stir when combined. Styled are now namely short miniskirts (preferably in A-line and with additional slit) to short-cut crop blazer. For this, you then style comfortable sneakers or rough biker boots. So the result is a particularly cool and edgy look.
Comfortable and exciting at the same time? Say hi to bralette! Bralettes have been among our absolute favorite pieces since last year if not earlier. And they are a perfect and comfortable bra replacement. Bralettes are worn individually this spring and summer as a super short top – preferably in a boyish look with wide-cut pleated pants featuring a high waist and oversize blazer.
There are currently endless styles of bra tops – from simple and minimalist in black or white to lace-adorned or rhinestone-studded items. If you find the pieces too revealing, you can now easily wear them layered over blouses or basic shirts.
More comfortable and relaxed, the better. This is currently the most important motto when it comes to fashion. Comfortable loungewear already triggered a lot of hype last year and remains a big trend this year as well. In the end, cozy sweatpants, hoodies and oversize shirts have been our most loyal companions since the start of Covid-19 lockdown and working from home.
So you thought loungewear was only for cozy couch evenings? Well, fashion pros are now proving us wrong and showing that sweatpants and the like can do much more. For spring and summer 2021, it will be especially stylish with comfortable pieces in cheerful pastel shades such as lilac, butter yellow or mint green, which are combined with delicate blouses, elegant blazers and sneakers in a street style manner. Comfortable is the main theme.
Gender Neutral Fashion is the most important keyword in the fashion year 2021. But what does it mean? Clothing that is designed not just for one gender, but equally for all gender types. It could be wide-cut jeans, loose-fitting shirts that have their origins in men’s fashion, or comfortable fabric pants. What’s important is that the pieces are wide and relaxed – in other words, oversized.
This spring and summer, oversized suits in all imaginable colors are particularly popular with fashion experts. They are easily combined with short crop tops, sneakers or high heels.
Are you a big fan of puffed and balloon sleeves and/or shoulder pads? Well, here is some good news: The hype around the bulky details on dresses, shirts and blouses is going into the next round this spring and summer.
Statement sleeves are a real eye-catcher and instantly add excitement to any look. The extra bulk on the arms and shoulders makes for a great look on top. Important for styling: balloon and puff sleeves always look a bit girly and playful and are therefore best styled in a contrast of styles with rough pieces like biker boots, lots of leather, destroyed denim and sneakers.
One important thing in the end
Fashion is, of course, purely a matter of taste and not everyone finds the trends and pieces shown beautifully. The styling tips, outfit ideas and hacks are meant to inspire you – what you do with them is entirely up to you. And always remember: whatever you choose to wear is entirely your decision. Nobody can tell you what you can or can’t wear. Fashion, after all, is supposed to be fun above all!
