Egg white and lemon for greasy hair

Egg white and lemon for greasy hair

Do you feel that your hair gets greasy so quickly? Unfortunately, a lot of us can relate. If you get light greasy hair, masks with eggs can help. You may want to stick to just the egg whites, as these are the ones that have enzymes that can help remove excess oil.

Combine the egg white from one egg with the juice from half a lemon. Spread evenly over the hair from roots to tips, and leave to work. Ranging from half an hour to an hour – the longer, the better. Once you rinse, use a little warm water. Stay tuned for more DIY hair masks.

Baking powder to lighten hair color

Having hair dyes will wear on your hair, that’s a known fact. You probably need a break from hair dying, or maybe you’ve never dyed your hair before, but would like a change? It is not just the sun and saltwater in the summer that can bleach your hair naturally. There is a quick-acting mask of baking powder that you can easily make at home which will help you with this.

In a small bowl, mix baking powder and water to make a batter that’s neither too firm nor too runny. Then spread this over your hair while it is wet, possibly only in the areas you want to lighten your hair. Wash out after five minutes. Remember to give your hair extra moisture afterwards, preferably with vegetable oil like coconut oil.

Repair with avocado and olives

Damaged and broken hair is something most of us can relate to. There are many reasons why your hair needs repairing treatment!

Everything from styling products and hair care tools to hair supplies, to hair coloring, could damage your hair. This mask is full of omega 3 fatty acids and can give your hair a boost in terms of both strength and shine.

Mix half an avocado, a tablespoon of olive oil, a tablespoon of honey and an egg. Apply from the roots to the top of your wet hair. Then, put your hair up on a top, and put on a shower cap. In order to boost the ingredients, you can let your hair stand while it is under the hot water for ten minutes. Leave on for 20 minutes until you shower it out. Stay tuned for more DIY hair masks.

Honey and apple cider vinegar for dry hair

Do you feel your hair is dry and kinky? Then a mask of eggs, honey and apple cider vinegar can help. It hydrates well without weakening the hair and also provides good nourishment to your hair.

In a small bowl, mix one tablespoon of honey, one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and one egg. If you have a lot of hair, double it. Allow it to sit in your hair for 30-40 minutes, then rinse out.

Deep cleanse with yoghurt and lemon

Taking a good cleanse every now and then is a good idea, in order to really get rid of all the product residue and dirt. I recommend using yoghurt, lemon and apple cider vinegar to remove excess oils, and also that the yoghurt provides extra moisture and care.

To make this, mix half a cup of natural yoghurt with a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, a tablespoon of lemon juice and two tablespoons of water. To add extra moisture to your hair, you can also add a tablespoon of honey! Apply this all over the hair, but focus on the scalp and massage well. Let sit for a minute before rinsing out.

Green tea and apple cider vinegar for irritated scalp

It is already well known that green tea has many health benefits, but did you know that it can also have a calming effect on the scalp? Using a mask of green tea, apple cider vinegar and peppermint can help restore balance if your scalp is irritated.

Layer a cup of green tea, and add drops of peppermint oil and a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. Rub this well into your scalp, and let it soak in for five minutes. Stay tuned for more DIY hair masks.

Avocado and banana to prevent hair breakage

There are many ways you can use bananas in your house and yet, we have come up with another one for them. The next time you have bananas you need to use them up, just throw them in your hair instead of in the oven in the form of banana bread.

The hair will probably benefit from this mask thanks to the avocado’s vitamins that repair and promote hair growth, and the banana’s natural oils and vitamins that make the hair soft so it doesn’t break so easily.

Mix one banana, one ripe avocado and two tablespoons of coconut oil. Do not use more than 20-30 minutes. Then, wash your hair as usual with shampoo and conditioner. Remember that if you have thin hair, you can’t use just a spoonful of olive oil either. Stay tuned for more DIY hair masks.

Coconut and cinnamon for hair growth

Did you know that cinnamon is an antibacterial spice well known for stimulating blood circulation, and can contribute to both increased hair growth and stronger hair? If you make a hair mask of coconut oil and cinnamon, you can easily give your hair a little boost.

Mix well. Apply evenly over the roots, and massage well into the base of the head. Leave it on your hair for 30-45 minutes before rinsing. Use about once a week.
