Electronic Arts Abandons Bioware Points

The Company Gives Away Add-ons for Mass Effect and Dragon Age

Bioware Points

Electronic Arts has sent a message to its community about the abandonment of BioWare Points, making it possible to download add-ons for selected productions of the Canadian studio. This offer is available to PC players.

The American publisher is planning to introduce some change in the existing acquisition of digital add-ons for older titles developed by BioWare. From October 11, BioWare Points will be gone, and players will no longer be able to purchase the special currency in the Origin store – however, it is worth noting that Crystals and Platinums will still be available.

“To wipe away the tears,” EA is providing the option to download for free most of the DLC, which will currently only be earned with BioWare Points. In the message that was sent out, the company conveys which productions are included.

“To help you survive this change, most of the DLC (downloadable content) that could previously only be purchased with BioWare points is now available for free. This includes DLC for the following titles:

Dragon Age II

Dragon Age: Origins

Mass Effect 2

Mass Effect 3 (with the exception of multiplayer packs).”

There is 90 days left to use the accumulated BioWare Points – the users have the opportunity to purchase multiplayer packs for Mass Effect 3. Afterwards, the content will be available only through credits earned in the game.

Meanwhile, it was pointed out that players “will continue to have access to content previously purchased with BioWare Points” – apparently, Ubisoft’s slip-up is teaching the competition to inform about important details of changes being made right away.
