At the start of June, SEGA presented its next retro mini-console, the SEGA Mega Drive 2. It will launch on October 27, 2022, and will be packed with 50 games, among them some SEGA CD titles.

The publisher of Sonic Mania has actually confirmed that 16-bit is not dead yet, nor will it ever die in a sense. The announcement of the “new” console had been made live on SEGA’s YouTube channel, and there was no confirmation of a possible arrival in the European countries.

Now, via VGC, SEGA has announced North American launch details for its SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive Mini 2 console.

This new compact console will launch in North America on October 27, which is the same release date that was previously announced for Japan.
