Today, Microsoft has just confirmed some surprising news. First-time players are going to be able to check voice conversations via Discord, a feature that is sure to have a very positive impact on gameplay and continued discussions with friends.

In January, Sony had confirmed “full support” for Discord on the PS5 and PS4, but it seems that Microsoft has also been collaborating with the company, as we have just received a very interesting announcement.

From today, Xbox Insiders will be able to check out a new feature – voice chat via Discord. Having said that, the company made sure to fully support the proposition, which will enable players to smoothly chat with their friends:

“Today’s update enables a much-needed feature – Discord Voice on Xbox consoles lets you chat with friends and the community while playing your favorite games. Planning a few rounds of multiplayer in Halo Infinite with buddies on console and PC? Exploring new biomes with friends in Minecraft? See that they’re already playing a game that supports cross-play? Connect to their channel and chat while they play. As you play the game on your console, you’ll be able to see who is connected and chatting. You will also be able to adjust the sound and switch between talking on Discord and chatting in-game on your Xbox console.”

Things are certainly interesting because, as you know, last year Microsoft wanted to buy Discord, but the company turned down the major corporate offer and chose to work with different companies.

Nevertheless, the Redmond giant is eager to take advantage of the messenger’s capabilities, and has ensured greater support on Xboxes.

The Microsoft notes that today’s update will be offered to selected members of the Xbox Insider program, but in the coming weeks it will go to more players.
