The Netflix has officially announced the first details of the BioShock movie, on which work has been underway for some time.

Francis Lawrence, who is best known for directing the Deathly Hallows series, is expected to be behind the camera. Most recently, he produced the fantasy film Dreamland for Netflix.

He will take on BioShock as he finishes work on the super-production The Ballad of Birds and Snakes. On the other hand, Michael Green, who has gained recognition by co-writing Logan: Wolverine, is responsible for the script.

He has been actively working on the script, so he is supposed to finish it when Lawrence completes work on the set of the Deathly Hallows prequel. At that point, he will be able to go right into pre-production of the game adaptation.

Taking Two Interactive and 2K are responsible for the production. They have sought a top Hollywood director and writer from the beginning, looking to ensure quality at the best level. Roy Lee, Cameron MacConomy and Strauss Zelnick are the producers.

Set in a dystopian world, the game blends science fiction and horror, and focuses on social and existential issues, adding a lot of freshness to the game medium. So far, the details of the vision for the adaptation are unknown.
