It’s Official: House of the Dragon Will Get a Second Season

The series has already some records on the number of viewers!

HBO is going to produce a second season of House of the Dragon. After all, the first episode of the series achieved record ratings around the world. This has prompted the company to order a season 2 immediately, which surely has pleased George R. R. Martin and the viewers.

House of the Dragon was promised to be one of the biggest premieres of 2022, and in fact it was. HBO boasted in a press release some truly remarkable viewing figures for the pilot episode of the series.

HBO cites Nielsen Holdings research in the aforementioned press release. According to them, the first episode of House of the Dragon has drawn a total of more than 20 million viewers in front of the screens in the United States already. This includes both HBO Max and television (HBO channels).

House of the Dragon had its premiere on HBO Max and TV channels on August 22, 2022. The series only needed four days to break previous records.

We should remind you that the script of House of the Dragon was derived from George R. R. Martin’s book Fire and Blood. The series introduces us to the events that took place 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.

In total, the first season of the series includes ten episodes, and in early June George R. R. Martin said in an interview that House of Dragon is in some ways better than the original book, which will bode well for the series as a whole.

Should the screenwriters maintain this form until the end, we could expect something really special. For the time being, everything is falling into place for the folks in charge of House of the Dragon and the viewers. Let’s hope it remains that way.
