The Horrible Resident Evil Series Has Been Canceled

Well, this is no surprise.

Resident Evil series

Netflix has gone all in on series adaptations of computer games with enthusiasm. While animated series are doing well, live-action ones have been lagging a bit. An example for this is the recent Resident Evil series, which definitely failed to make a positive impression on viewers.

With an extremely low rating of 1.4 on Metacritic, it’s definitely not something to brag about. And this is not just about fan reviews, as the critics also gave the series a barely average grade. No wonder the streaming platform decided not to go ahead with the second season.

The show was doing well at the time of its premiere. Back then, the streaming service was being dominated by Stranger Things, yet Resident Evil still somehow managed to take the second spot in the top 10 most watched shows on Netflix. But poor quality of both the script and the production led to it not even making the top 10 just two weeks later.

This is not the first time Netflix has tried this with the Resident Evil brand – there was an animated series released last year with the title Infinite Darkness. That one also got lousy ratings, but nowhere near as bad as the recent live-action series.
