Earlier this year it was already officially confirmed that the world’s fastest hedgehog will live to see a third theatrical film, although the second part of his adventures hit the big screen just a few months ago.
SEGA and Paramount Pictures representatives had decided not to keep viewers in the dark for long and announced the exact release date of Sonic 3: Fast as Lightning.
It has been announced that Sonic will run into theaters again on December 20, 2024, or more than two years from now.
The attached gif in the following tweet suggests that besides the blue hedgehog, there will be no shortage of Tails and Knuckles on screen.

While the plot details about the film remain a mystery, it is quite likely that more characters from Sonic’s universe will appear. It could mean that we will finally see Amy, or Rogue.
Moreover, the finale of the second part implied the debut of Shadow, who this time would take over the position of antagonist.
The designated release date means that the Sonic 3 film will compete with the third part of Avatar, which is also set for December 20, 2024.
This December, we’ll find out if the highly anticipated sequel will live up to fans of the 2009 first installment, and therefore whether Avatar 3 can pose a threat to the blue hedgehog.
Sonic 3 movie’s cast and production team remains unknown. However, let’s hope that, at least in terms of casting, there will be no significant changes.
