Microsoft officially revealed that the Death Stranding game from Kojima Productions studio is coming soon – on August 23 this year – to the Xbox Game Pass service on PC. This confirmed recent rumors which had been circulating online for a few days.

In the official announcement we read that players can expect, among other things, to play on ultra-wide monitors, Photo Mode and the ability to have unlimited frames per second.

So how is it that a PlayStation-owned game brand will end up on Microsoft’s service? Many options abound, but the most likely explanation don’t need to look far.

First of all, Death Stranding is going to Game Pass on PC and not on Xbox consoles. Secondly, the PC release of the game was managed not by PlayStation, but by 505 Games, so maybe Sony didn’t have much of a say at all.

Death Stranding made its debut in November 2019 as a PlayStation 4 exclusive title, and it was not until July 14 last year that it also arrived on PC.

The new edition of Kojima Productions‘ masterpiece, Death Stranding: Director’s Cut, made its debut on September 24 last year on the next-generation PS5 console and March 30 this year on PC. Feel free to read our Death Stranding review if you haven’t yet played the game.
