EA Is Reportedly Developing a Game Featuring Iron Man

It is other than the Black Panther-themed game.

A few years ago, Marvel started to make some serious inroads into the gaming segment, producing pieces with much higher production values instead of the movie tie-ins of questionable quality it produced a decade ago.

The 2018 Spider-Man, followed up two years later by Miles Morales, was a smash hit, the Guardians of the Galaxy may not have impressed sales-wise, but critical reviews were positive, and even there were those who enjoyed Marvel’s Avengers team-up.

While Firaxis studio is currently forging the turn-based strategy Midnight Suns, and work has begun on a game adaptation of badass Wolverine at Insomniac, alongside the new Spider-Man, speculation is rife that publisher EA is also looking to take a bite of the comic book pie.

A few days ago, a report that a Black Panther-themed game is in the works at its studios swept the internet. But that’s not all, apparently.

Internet gossip repository of varying degrees of quality and credibility, Jeff Grubb, took to the Giant Bomb podcast to the effect that EA is also working on a new game starring Iron Man. Another insider, Tom Henderson, subsequently backed up his words, though he added that he couldn’t provide any further details.

Whereas Black Panther is rumored to be in development under the name Project Rainier at EA’s newly established Seattle studio, led by former Monolith Productions VP Kevin Stephens, in the case of the speculated Iron Man, the developer team is a bigger nut to crack.

Most major EA studios have other projects in the works at the moment, be it Motive’s Dead Space remake, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor from Respawn, or even BioWare’s new Dragon Age or Mass Effect.

However, at least the latter studio has a pretty good technological foundation thanks to Anthem; flying suits from the ill-fated co-op shooter could come in handy.

In modern history, Iron Man has seen a pair of games tied to the first films, besides being introduced in virtual reality thanks to Iron Man VR, and, naturally, features in the aforementioned Marvel’s Avengers and the planned Midnight Suns.
