Nintendo Reacts to PS5 Price Hike With an Official Statement

Sony’s move has been met with comments from other corporations. First thing we learned the view of Microsoft, which has no intention of reacting and wishes to sell Xbox Series X|S at its original price, and the same path will be followed by Nintendo. The Japanese company also has no plans to introduce an increase.

Sony is leveraging its very good market situation. Similarly, Nintendo certainly can’t complain about any lack of interest in the Nintendo Switch, but Mario’s executives don’t plan to exploit the position.

Eurogamer editors received a statement in which Nintendo confirmed that it has no plans to increase the price of the Nintendo Switch:

“As our CEO Mr Furukawa stated at the 82nd Annual General Meeting of Shareholders in June: While we cannot comment on pricing strategies, we do not currently have any plans to change the price of our hardware because of inflation or increased supply costs in specific countries. We will determine our future pricing strategies through careful and ongoing consideration.”

While the ultimate price for consumers is always decided by retailers, as Mr. Furukawa stated, Nintendo doesn’t have plans to increase the price of its consoles.

Indeed, the company used the Nintendo CEO’s previously stated words to confirm with his words that Nintendo has no intention of imposing a price increase on the Nintendo Switch.

Certainly, it is worth to clarify that Big N has had an interesting idea and decided to reduce the packaging of the hybrid platform so that additional pieces of the console can be thrown into the shipment. In effect, the company will be able to launch more units of the device faster.
