For many years now, rumors have circulated around the web about a potential Constantine 2 film, a sequel to the 2005 hit. The latest reports on this production emerged in the fall of 2020, but as of now the film has never seen the light of day.
According to Deadline, meanwhile, the Constantine 2 film is actually going to be made. The source says that Warner Bros. Pictures will be responsible for the sequel, and Keanu Reeves is set to reappear in the cast.
Furthermore, Francis Lawrence, who also worked on the original nearly two decades ago, will assume the position of director.
We have also learned that the script for the sequel will be written by Akiva Goldsman. He will hold the position of producer on behalf of Weed Road Pictures.
Additionally, J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella have been named producers, both representing Bad Robot. Executive producers are Lorenzo Di Bonaventura and Erwin Stoff.
Constantine 2 is going to be another brand refresh after years by Keanu Reeves. Most recently, he appeared in the new installment of The Matrix, and in Bill and Ted Save the Universe.
Story details about the forthcoming sequel remain unknown. But we can safely assume that the action of this film is going to be set many years after the events of the first part, when the protagonist has aged a bit.
