It was the Korean production that received special attention at the recent Emmy Awards. After all, the series’ director and writer, Hwang Dong-hyuk, became the first Korean filmmaker to win the award for best director of a drama series. The production was nominated in a total of 14 categories, and has won as many as six historic awards.

On the occasion of the momentous event, a special press conference was organized in Korea with the creators and actors from Squid Game. Speaking at the event, Dong-hyuk said that filming for the second season is starting soon.

Previously, Netflix had officially confirmed it. The director emphasized that he will be on the set in 2023, and the premiere is scheduled for 2024. We are going to meet well-known characters and once again get into the deadly Korean game. However, that doesn’t mean that the universe won’t expand in the future.

There will be no well-known Hollywood actor in season 2. That’s not in the plan, and if the setting changes, maybe in season 3 – but season 2 will still be set in Korea. Leonardo DiCaprio has stated that he is a big fan of Squid Game, so maybe, if time or opportunities allow, we can ask him to join the games. – said Hwang Dong-hyuk

So it appears that the Squid Game may be expanding to include more countries that organize such life-and-death games. No wonder the United States is probably the first to be tipped.

As Leonardo DiCaprio is a big fan of the series, perhaps it won’t actually take long to convince him to step in. What do you think about this? Are we going to see Hollywood actors and actresses in this famous series?

We should note that in case you don’t actually remember the games of the series, we have written an article ranking the deadliest Squid Game games.
