This Is How Ghost of Tsushima Helped Like a Dragon: Ishin! Come to the West

Like a Dragon: Ishin! was never planned to debut in the West, but... The success of Ghost of Tsushima convinced the developers

Like a Dragon: Ishin! has been one of the most important announcements of this month for many and this is even despite the fact that we are, in fact, talking about a “mere” refresh of a game from nearly a decade ago.

However, given how much the worldwide re-release of the Yakuza series did for the Yakuza series itself, one can more than likely assume that in this case the developers are also hoping for a sizable injection of new fans.

As it turns out, meanwhile, they were not favorably inclined to the release of the production in the West from the beginning. In fact, the original 2014 installment failed to do well here, since the developers didn’t even bother to tempt them to add more languages for a wider audience. So why is it different now?

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio chief Masayoshi Yokoyama responded to this question:

We saw how well Ghost of Tsushima did and how it looked in this Japanese setting created by Americans-this gave us confidence that Ishin could do well in America as well.

Thus, as you can see, Ghost of Tsushima, notwithstanding the time that has passed since its release, continues to be able to carry positive influences. Such is no doubt the desire to put Like a Dragon: Ishin! in the hands of a larger audience.

So now it remains to wait and hope that on February 21 we can experience an adventure that many people probably did not have the pleasure of experiencing eight years ago. Are you waiting? Let us know in the comments section below.
