PlayStation Showcase Being Delayed by Microsoft? An Insider Claims

PlayStation fans eagerly await the announcement of this year’s PlayStation Showcase for a long time. Sadly, Sony has still not revealed when we might expect the said event. In the meantime, there have been some interesting reports on the Japanese company’s plans to hit the net.

Indeed, it turns out that the unveiling of games heading to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles was reportedly to be held this week.

But the show was to be postponed due to the start of an in-depth investigation by the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority/CMA into Microsoft’s takeover of Activision Blizzard.

Mille A – an industry insider known primarily for publishing information related to the Japanese company – has shared a post on the social networking site Twitter, acknowledging that the CMA’s investigation has “actually delayed Sony’s plans for the [PlayStation] Showcase.”

According to the insider, the first-party titles were “reserved” and awaiting presentation at the said event.

Apparently, the showcase was to be announced on October 11, with the broadcast to follow on the following Thursday – October 20.

Mille A is reporting that Sony was going to present, among other things, the new Silent Hill and the “Who Am I?” project from Hideo Kojima.

But the Japanese company was concerned that the show may have influenced the CMA’s decision and given Microsoft additional arguments, which is why the corporation decided to change plans.

Naturally, Sony is unlikely to react in any way to the above reports. Meanwhile, we should mention that Konami has chosen not to wait for the PlayStation Showcase and has invited players to its own showcase, where we will learn about the future of the Silent Hill series.

On the other hand, PlayStation fans can do nothing but wait patiently for the announcement of the eagerly awaited event.
