Silent Hill 2 Remake Being Developed “With Respect to the Original”, the Developers Assure

We got the announcement of Silent Hill 2 Remake last week. In accordance with previous rumors, the Polish studio Bloober Team, who has been working on the said title since 2019, is in charge of the production.

Nevertheless, it appears that this is not the end of information regarding the refreshed version of the 2001 hit. After all, the native developer has released a video, which assures that the Silent Hill 2 remake is being developed “with respect to the original.”

The studio emphasized that Silent Hill 2 is a “beloved and timeless classic,” which is why the team is approaching work on the remake “with great care.” Meanwhile, Piotr Babieno – president of Bloober Team – indicates that due to the aforementioned production, many employees of the studio “fell in love” with horror games.

Maciej Glomb – the game’s main producer – in turn underlines that for the Silent Hill 2 Remake, the developers are interested in preserving the “unique atmosphere” familiar from the original, so the studio is working closely with the people responsible for the original, including Masahiro Ito and Akira Yamaoka.

Also, the developers wish for the upcoming remake to equally impress players as strongly as the original released more than 21 years ago. But the developers are aware that gamers’ expectations have “evolved” in the meantime, which is why some things require changes.

The new perspective was given as an example. After all, the Polish studio is certain that a camera placed over the protagonist’s shoulder will increase immersion.

We should remind you that Silent Hill 2 Remake is being developed for the PC and PlayStation 5 consoles, however, Sony made sure of only temporary exclusivity, so over time the title will also be able to appear on Microsoft devices.

Bloober Team’s production has also now lived to see its own product page on Steam, where, for instance, hardware requirements for the PC version have been made available.
