Blizzard Entertainment Keeps Taking Steps To Build a Healthier Overwatch 2 Community

Online game toxicity in online games have gotten out of control on more than one occasion. Therefore, game companies are working on different measures to prevent this from becoming a major problem. Blizzard is launching a new system in Overwatch 2 that listens to your conversations and transcribes them.

Blizzard has announced that a new anti-toxicity system will be available in “select countries” and for now only in the PC version of Overwatch 2.

It involves technology that will transcribe conversations made in Overwatch 2 voice chat, though only those that receive reports of misconduct.

This transcript will allow Blizzard to analyze what is said in the voice chat in a reported game. It’ worth mentioning that the audios will be kept only temporarily, meaning your chats won’t stay on Blizzard Entertainment’s servers forever.

“Players will now see a notification upon entering voice chat for the first time during a game session indicating that voice chat may be recorded.

Please be sure to report as close to the time the disruptive behavior occurred to maximize the effectiveness of this feature.

Upon reporting, temporary audio recording is used to make a transcript into a text file via speech-to-text programs. Nobody listens to the temporary audio recording, which is deleted quickly after it is transcribed.

Transcriptions are only made for reports of disruptive behavior in public voice channels, including team and party chat – team group chat is excluded,” Blizzard explained on its blog.
