CoD Modern Warfare 2 Is Crushing the Sales of the Previous Installment of the Series

It seems that gamers have thrown their weight around for the new Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Sales of the game have been impressive, to say the least, when compared to the previous installment, the WWII-set CoD Vanguard.

Concrete numbers are missing, yet according to data obtained by Gamesindustry.biz, two weeks after its release, Modern Warfare 2 almost surpassed Vanguard’s sales for the entire period from its debut until now. We’re talking about digital and boxed versions.

Let’s recall that in the case of Vanguard we’re talking about twelve months – the game made its debut on November 5, 2021.

What is the reason for so much interest in Modern Warfare 2? It appears that the spur of the series treating modern warfare always attracted the most players.

In addition, the fact that Warzone 2.0 will soon debut, which, as with the previous Modern Warfare and the first Warzone, will be somehow “merged” into the main installment of the series, also helps. We are talking not only about mechanics, but the entire system of progress and rewards.

It was also important to “overeat” the World War II theme and Sledgehammer Games’ rather unusual approach to this historical period. The Vanguard presented an alternative version of the conflict, while also offering modern weapon additions, like collimators.

Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 will make its debut on November 16, which is a Wednesday. This game will be available on PC and PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
