It is getting warmed up for The Games Awards!

God of War Ragnarok Takes First GOTY: Santa Monica’s Blockbuster Wins at Big Conference

As preparations for The Game Awards 2022 heat up with the challenge between God of War Ragnarok and Elden Ring to win the GOTY, the jury of the BIG Conference decided to award the prestigious Best Game of the Year award to the last act of the Norse odyssey of Kratos and Atreus.

Known originally as the Fun & Serious Game Festival, Bilbao International Games Conference is one of Europe’s most important video game festivals. For this year, the jury of the event decided to award God of War Ragnarok with Game of the Year.

Thus Santa Monica’s action adventure kolossal managed to prevail over fierce competition of FromSoftware’s open world soulslike.

Also within the setting of the Spanish video game event, organizers of the BIG Conference presented a lifetime achievement award to Shuhei Yoshida, a former vice president senor of SCE Worldwide Studios and the current executive in charge of the PlayStation Indies division of the Japanese tech giant.

The back-and-forth battle between Elden Ring and GOW Ragnarok is set to resume on Dec. 9, with the much anticipated The Game Awards 2022 show starting at 7:30 p.m. EDT with lots of game launches and surprises from industry figures speaking on stage at the event presented by Geoff Keighley.
