You can download the files right now.

One of the biggest leaks in the history of the growth industry occurred in mid-September. The group of hackers stole files containing an early version of Grand Theft Auto 6 from Rockstar Games‘ servers.

Recordings and screenshots of the yet unannounced production, showing the game in action, found their way online. Several days later, the London police arrested the hacker responsible for the theft.

The teenager’s subsequent fate is unknown and he awaits sentencing in the server hacking case. At the time, It was reported that unauthorized individuals may have come into possession of the GTA V source code. As DSOGaming reports, files have hit the web and are downloadable via GitHub.

So what does the GTA V source code contain?

As yet, there’s no confirmation whatsoever that the files on the site are indeed the source code for Grand Theft Auto V.

Reports from people who were tempted to download the files indicate that the code contains scripting functions, along with information about cut content from GTA Online, notes from developers and some anti-cheat files.

It is likely that Rockstar Games is looking into the leak and the possible consequences. With even a partially released source code, their production, particularly the online mode, might be adversely affected.

The hackers will be able to bypass some of the security features and create cheats that won’t be easily detectable by the game itself.

This will obviously spoil the balance of gameplay in GTA Online and negatively affect the entire community gathered round the production. However, hopefully this will not happen.
