Tekken 8 Is Coming as Early as 2023? Bandai Namco Details Its Future Plans

The sequel to one of the most popular brawling series was a highlight of September’s State of Play – Bandai Namco unveiled a highly impressive trailer showing real-time gameplay on the PlayStation 5.

Developers are focusing on completely revamping character models and refreshing gameplay, using the capabilities of Unreal Engine 5.

Therefore, Katsuhiro Harada spoke rather sparingly on the topic of the debut, emphasizing that the game needs “some more time.”

The latest financial report, though, has fueled the expectations of numerous Tekken enthusiasts.

In response to an inquiry from investors about planned game launches that, similar to Elden Ring, offered “new experiential value,” Japan’s Tekken 8 was relayed as possibly debuting beyond March 31, 2023, its next fiscal year.

“In addition to the titles scheduled for release in fiscal 2022, we plan to release several major titles in fiscal 2023 that will allow players to enjoy the game longer and deeper. We are also developing Tekken 8 with the intention of releasing it in 2023 or later.”

While it seems quite understandable that Bandai Namco is still holding off on announcing a specific release date for the brawler, we can take quite a positive conclusion from the above information.

If only the Harada team will do its job, we will not have to wait that long for Tekken 8 – however, in spite of the assurances of the lead developer, production may face Street Fighter 6 as another high-profile item debuting in 2023 or early 2024.
