Cyberpunk 2077 Will Receive a Game of the Year Edition

Following the release of the expansion.

Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is going to get a “Game of The Year” edition next year, which includes the basic version of the game together with the expansion. Obviously, you have to wait for the release of the add-on first.

“This is the natural order of things. It was the same with The Witcher, which was eventually released as a Game of the Year Edition after both add-ons and has been on the market that way ever since. The same can be expected in this case. It’s quite obvious.” – CD Projekt CEO Adam Kicinski said during the WSE Innovation Day presentation, as cited by Stockwatch.

The initial plans for Cyberpunk 2077 were to release expansions in numbers “at least the same as The Witcher 3,” but the presumptions were eventually revised. There will be one expansion called Phanton Liberty. Only after it can we expect a GOTY release.

“The target Game of the Year version for CP2077 will be just after this update and including the new add-on. This version will be made available at full price. What else to expect here,” – Kicinski added, evidently surprised by the question.

He added that interest in Cyberpunk 2077 is at present “on a very good trajectory,” which is expected to translate into sales of the expansion itself as well.

Phanton Liberty has no specific release date yet. Its story will tell the tale of V’s cooperation with the government of the New United States. Apparently, we will get an espionage thriller, and the action is located in the new daily Night City.

What’s interesting is that Phantom Liberty will skip older consoles and will be released only on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. We can expect the same to be true with the release of the GOTY version of the game.
