God of Rock: The New Gameplay Video Is Here

God of Rock was announced in the middle of Gamescom this summer, and since then it has not given any sign of life. At that time, it was rumored that the game would be released in the winter of 2022 to try its luck at Christmas.

Finally, developers from Modus Games preferred to push back the release date, which is now set for April 18, 2023. To avoid creating drama on Twitter following this postponement, a gameplay video has been published, in order to show us how the game mechanics work.

As a reminder for people who missed this title, God of Rock is a musical game that relies on the fundamentals of a fighting game.

Yeah, said like that, it’s a weird mix, but there are some nice ideas in-game. The game is presented as a classic fighting game, with the health and super gauges, but you have to take into account the notes that scroll at the bottom of the screen.

Each color of note corresponds to specific moves, and you must press it at the right time to trigger moves, super attacks, or even furies. Just to get the full effect, God of Rock also features sequences where you can perform special commands using quarter circles, just like in classic versus fighting.

By missing notes, or no longer being in the tempo makes you vulnerable, dropping your guard. What do you think about this game? Let us know in the comments section below.
