Microsoft To Increase Xbox Games Prices, We Will Pay More for Starfield

As reported by IGN, US corporation Microsoft is planning price increases for its games in 2023. A spokesperson for the company revealed to the editors of the aforementioned portal that the games developed for the next-generation Xbox Series X and S consoles will cost $69.99 instead of $59.99, as previously.

While we don’t yet know how this would translate into regional prices, we can be even sure that we will be paying more than $300 for big-budget productions at launch.

Among the first games to be purchased at a higher price starting next year are expected to be Forza Motorsport, Redfall or Starfield – all of which, however, would be available on the Xbox Game Pass service on the day of their release. A corporate spokesperson said this about the increase:

This price reflects the content, scale and technical complexity of these titles. As with all games developed by our teams for Xbox, they will also be available with Game Pass on the same day they debut on the market.

As recently as October, Phil Spencer had announced that the higher pricing standard would apply not only to games, but to Xbox consoles and Xbox Game Pass subscriptions as well.

While IGN hasn’t learned anything about the pricing of consoles, what we can expect is that they will get more expensive at the same time as games. We remain to wait for information.
