The open-world project for the “Star Wars” series that is in development at Ubisoft Massive is apparently making progress. As can be seen from a recent announcement by the Swedish studio, they are currently preparing local gameplay tests.
As was announced at the beginning of 2021, “The Division” creators from Ubisoft Massive are also one of the studios working on a “Star Wars” project.
Aside from the fact that we are dealing with an open-world title that tells a completely new story in the “Star Wars” universe, however, no specific details have been given so far.
A new sign of life was delivered by the Swedish studio with the announcement that it is currently looking for players to participate in internal and local playtests.
Preference will be given to massive playtesters who are located near the Malmö-based studio, Ubisoft says. This announcement should indicate that the “Star Wars” product is making progress behind the scenes.
It is still unclear when we can expect the official unveiling of the title. However, we should probably not expect any solid details or first impressions in the foreseeable future.
Whereas Ubisoft, respectively the developers of Ubisoft Massive, indicated several times in the past that the project is still in an early stage of development, the insider Tom Henderson, who is regarded as well-connected, gave a bit more detail in the spring and talked about the fact that Ubisoft Massive’s “Star Wars” titles is still several years away.
“I didn’t include Ubisoft’s Star Wars game here because I think that’s probably the furthest away title from release and probably the earliest we can consider for it is 2025,” Henderson elaborated in March of this year.

However, those information have not been confirmed by official sources. Ubisoft Massive’s new “Star Wars” project will in all probability be released for the PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
