Why the Need for Speed Unbound Didn’t Appear on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One?

Well, there is only one answer.

Why the Need for Speed Unbound Didn’t Appear on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One?

It has been more than two years since the release of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X. It seems, then, that it is high time to “cut the umbilical cord” and begin releasing games exclusively for the new generation. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One devices are great, but their heyday is long behind them.

Sure, they still have their users as a large player base, but having to produce versions for older consoles often constrains developers, so sometimes the audience itself suffers. This could have been the case with Need for Speed Unbound.

That’s why Need for Speed Unbound did not appear on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Kieran Crimmins – the creative director of Criterion studio – admitted in an interview with Traxion.gg portal that one of his team’s goals was to provide players the best possible experience.

The need to release the game for weaker hardware would have unnecessarily limited the developers. By saying this, he was referring to technical aspects such as graphics, the visual effects, the physics or the fluidity of the game.

At the same time, the creator admitted that he would like to release his game on all possible hardware, but that technological limitations are a huge barrier in this case.

We would love to hear what you guys think about this topic. Is it about time for top productions to stop appearing on older consoles?

The issue has been gaining more publicity recently, since God of War Ragnarök faced problems arising from such a situation. Give us a heads up in the comments.
