Gladiator 2 Gets Its First Star, He Will Replace Russell Crowe

It was back in September 2021 that Ridley Scott confirmed that he will start production on the second installment of Gladiator after finishing work on his new film titled Kitbag.

Although we still don’t know the date when the film will begin shooting, it was revealed who will take on the role of the main character.

Let’s recall that Gladiator 2 would tell the story of Lucius, son of Lucilia and nephew of Commodus, who in the first film was still a young boy.

The feats of Maximus played by Russell Crowe had a huge impact on Lucius, the effects of which we will see in the next chapter of the story.

Paul Mescal stars in Gladiator 2

The role of Lucius has been cast as Irish actor Paul Mescal. Viewers may associate him with the series Normal People, and films such as Daughter, God’s Creatures and Aftersun, which will make its debut in Polish cinemas on February 3 this year. Gladiator 2’s release date is not yet known.

Paul Mescal is an Irish actor. He is best known for his role as Connell Waldron in the television series “Normal People,” which was based on the novel of the same name by Sally Rooney and aired on the streaming service Hulu.

Mescal received critical acclaim for his performance in the series and won several awards, including the Irish Film and Television Award for Best Actor. In addition to his work in “Normal People,” Mescal has also appeared in a number of stage productions in Ireland and the United Kingdom.
