7 Famous MMORPGs That You Should Now Play Again

There are some good reasons to play these games.

Many cool MMORPGs are available on the market, but because of their age and some kind of “legacy baggage” newcomers tend to stay away from playing them. And because it’s an old server, and there will be no one to play with at a lower level, and because it’s a broken economy or no prospects for success, there are many reasons for not playing such games.

But you can still find some cool and famous old MMORPGs on the market that are worth playing again. That is why we have compiled the following list of those Massively Multiplayer Online games that, because of different reasons, are good for now – key word ‘now’ – for starting the adventure from scratch. Stay tuned.

7- Tibia

Right now is also an ideal time to play the iconic Tibia. Several factors contribute to this: the recent release of the Summer Update (with lots of new features), opening of Retro-Open PvP servers (which work in harmony with old versions of the game), recently introduced features to make playing easier, and a soundtrack that will enable us – for the first time in 25 years – to hear the “soul” of Tibia.

There is also a Skill Wheel (similar to Path of Exile) with a completely revolutionary character development system coming soon. Tibia is definitely one of the most famous MMORPGs out there and you should think about playing them.

6- ArcheAge Unchained

Although there has been some turbulence, ArcheAge is somehow still one of the most exciting and original MMORPG titles on the market. Not surprisingly, the new “Fresh Servers”, which were opened a while ago, have received a lot of attention. Furthermore, they operate in an accelerated mode (more exp, drop, points), therefore it will take you much less time to make it to the conventional end-game. This is a really great time to revisit ArcheAge or play it for the first time.

5- Guild Wars 2

After a decade, Guild Wars 2 finally lived to see its release on Steam, making it to one of the most famous MMORPGs. And thousands of new people – who never played this MMORPG before – have flooded the world of Tyria, making a really big stir. With Steam, we saw images we haven’t seen… since 2012 (masses of people jogging around locations and doing “next-gen” Dynamic Events).

Until the release of the next add-on (distant future), there will be no better opportunity to try GW2. We advise you not to overlook such an opportunity, or you will regret it later. The Steam hype for GW2 is also going to end someday (as well as the gigantic influx of new users).

4- RuneScape

Those who have never played RuneScape – which is one of the largest and most famous MMORPGs in the world (300 million registered users) – should think hard now. For some time, RuneScape has started “Fresh Start Worlds” – which are special worlds in which we will receive additional exp, buffs and rewards.

These worlds are dedicated precisely to “green” players, which is why only people with freshly registered accounts will get there. A wonderful chance to make a name for yourself in the RS universe, in which you do not have to compete with seasoned veterans of the game.

3- New World

We constantly have in the back of our minds the events of autumn-winter 2022, when New World faced horrendous exploits and the amount of gamers was decreasing at an alarming rate (98% population decline). Nothing and no one, it seemed, was going to save New World from collapse. Yet here we go – Amazon Games‘ flagship game is reborn like a phoenix from the ashes, and slowly is regaining its former position.

Everything started with regular updates fixing bugs and adding much needed features to the game. Later came new features (e.g., mowe dungeons and LFG) and the announcement of the first add-on ever. What resulted? The game’s reviews are getting better and better, while the number of active players is the highest since February 2022, which forced Amazon to open many new servers.

2- World of Warcraft Classic

Last fall definitely belonged to World of Warcraft, and especially to World of Warcraft Classic, one of the most famous MMORPGs which saw the release of the Wrath of the Lich King version – a version based on the best and most respected add-on in the game’s history. However, the hype for WotLK Classic had already begun in late August/early September last year, when Blizzard launched fresh worlds (an absolute rarity in WoW), causing a massive population in Azeroth.

Gamers are so many that queues to the biggest servers reach many hours, and Blizz – to improve the situation – has had to introduce more batches of worlds. If you are dreaming of the best possible version of WoW, where everybody has a fair chance and the server economy is (still) in very good shape, you should buy a subscription and get into World of Warcraft Classic as soon as possible.

1- Lord of the Rings Online

A major complaint about Lord of the Rings Online was that the majority of the active community was made up of veterans who had achieved level cap and focused solely on end-game activities. A new player who entered the world of Middle-earth felt like it was a single-player game. The initial locations were empty, and it was either impossible or took ages to find a team for some low-level dungeon.

Well, all that has changed now. The Free-To-Play version expansion, a new mini-add-on coming, and the release of the “Rings of Power” series have caused an influx of huge numbers. The producers of the game themselves admit that “the number of active players is the highest since 2016.” The Lord of the Rings Online is back to life again, becoming one of the most famous MMORPGs, and since the beginning of the adventure you can find plenty of people (we recommend the “Evernight” server) to play together.
