According to tradition, Blizzard Entertainment announced that The Darkening of Tristram event will begin in Diablo III on January 3 this year.

This game fans certainly know what it’s all about – within the event, gamers will have the opportunity to visit iconic locations from the first installment of the Diablo series, and will also meet familiar enemies from the first game on their way.

Diablo’s anniversary is just around the corner, and with it comes the Darkening of Tristram event! Whether you’re one of the series’ veterans yearning for nostalgia, or perhaps a newcomer looking to get a first taste of the series’ past, this annual tribute to Diablo’s earliest days is for you.

Naturally, players can earn various rewards during the event in the form of special achievements, custom portraits or pets. The Darkening of Tristram will start in Diablo III on the night of January 3-4 and will run until the end of the month.

Diablo III is an action role-playing game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. It is the third installment in the Diablo franchise, and it was released for Microsoft Windows and macOS in 2012, with versions for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One being released in 2013 and 2014.

In the game, players choose to play as one of seven character classes – barbarian, demon hunter, monk, witch doctor, wizard, necromancer or Crusader – and are tasked with defeating Diablo, the Lord of Terror, as well as other evil beings that have invaded the world of Sanctuary.
