Naughty Dog Will Reveal the New Game When It’s Just About Ready

Naughty Dog studio director Neil Druckmann revealed in an interview why the team has not yet officially announced its next project. According to him, the previous games were announced too quickly and this reflected negatively on the comfort of work.

The creator was interviewed by the editors of the Comicbook website. Druckmann acknowledged that announcing games early puts additional pressure on developers.

“We announced Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us Part 2 well in advance, and this unfortunately caused work-life balance issues within the team,” he said. – explains the developer.

“By delaying the announcement a bit, we have a more flexible schedule that we can adjust to how production actually progresses. That’s why we’re working on a multiplayer game now, but we’re also working on another project, which I won’t say anything about except that we’re very excited about it.” – he elaborated on his thought.

Considering the developer’s stance, one may think that the next game will only be announced once it is in the final stages of production.

It should be taken into account, though, that it’s probably Sony – which is Naughty Dog’s game publisher – that will make the final decision on revealing a new game.

At the moment, however, it’s likely that the studio is also focused on assisting HBO with the development of the highly anticipated series adaptation of The Last of Us. Let’s recall that this one will make its debut on the HBO Max platform on January 16.
