Will Sony Make the New PlayStation Prepared for Cloud Gaming?

The Japanese may follow in the path of Microsoft.

Japanese manufacturer is preparing for a very busy year – the coming weeks will see the first TV series developed in partnership with HBO, the new model of virtual reality goggles will debut on the market, and players will be able to play Spider-Man 2.

But there is a possibility that the company may be considering expanding its cloud gaming service and going the way of Microsoft.

The editors of Veryaligaming have arrived at a patent titled “Pass-Through Device for Cloud Gaming and methods for processing,” under which Sony may offer the community access to multiple games through an integrated device reminiscent of Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV Stick.

While the Japanese have previously offered PlayStation Now through consoles and on PCs, recent reports suggest that the company may be planning to use the cloud to offer its productions on various hardware.

There’s a good chance that the Japanese would like to seize the opportunity to provide a new device that would share PlayStation titles as well as music, movies, series or news. The proposal could be connected to smart TVs and mobile devices, according to the patent.

“According to this, users can seamlessly switch between watching media content and playing games in the cloud, in an efficient way using a transition device that is connected to the preferred streaming device,” – The patent reads.

We could easily imagine a stick similar to the aforementioned Amazon option, which we will connect to a TV, thus gaining access to Sony’s catalog of games and various services.

We’ve seen similar solutions from Microsoft for Xbox Cloud Gaming in the past – with the manufacturer making the service available through browsers, apps, and recently users of Samsung TVs can also take advantage of the American cloud.

Also, manufacturer was working on a small device that would provide access to Xbox Game Pass, but the work on the project was stopped.
