Nacon, the video game publisher, has announced that the highly-anticipated title, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, developed by Daedalic, will not be released until April at the earliest.
This information was revealed in Nacon’s latest financial results report, which stated that the launch of the game is now scheduled for the first half of the 2023-2024 fiscal year, meaning it will take place between April and September.
This delay marks yet another setback for the game, which was originally planned for release in 2021. After multiple postponements, a September 2022 release date was set, but it was later pushed back to 2023, with a specific release date being described as “a few months” later.
According to Daedalic, the reason for the delays is to ensure that they are able to offer players the “best possible experience” possible.
The developer has said, “over the past few years the team has been working hard to share our vision for this extraordinary story, set in an incredible world filled with magic and mystery.”
They also stated that they are “committed to meeting our community’s expectations and uncovering Gollum’s untold story in a way that honors JRR Tolkien’s vision.”
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be available on a variety of platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
