Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Unveils New Gameplay in the Mount Tianzhu Area

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is Team Ninja’s (developer of titles such as NiOh, Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin) newest action adventure and launches on March 3 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, with Xbox Game Pass debut.

New gameplay from an area we haven’t seen before, in Mount Tianzhu, has been posted by media outlet IGN. Two videos of this area exist, English and Japanese, featuring 10 minutes of gameplay.

They’re very similar but not identical, so we get to see different strategies when facing the various dangers we’ll see in this Souls-style RPG.

Team Ninja has become the studio that has best managed to follow the path marked by FromSoftware, managing to create action RPGs with personality that, although they are easy to compare with Souls, stand out on their own, for their own ideas.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will be no different: the general feeling we’ve gotten is that it’s an easier, more agile, more customizable Sekiro, with a cooperative multiplayer mode that we’re really looking forward to trying out. It’s not a title that’s going to surprise or stand out, but we’re sure soulslike fans will enjoy it.

War and Fantasy in the Han Dynasty

The makers of Ninja Gaiden or the upcoming Rise of the Ronin take the action of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty to the myths of the China of the Three Kingdoms, featuring supernatural elements and dark fantasy. Combat is agile and fast-paced, drawing inspiration from wuxia martial arts cinema.

It was easy to fall into the error and think that Wo Long is ‘a NiOh in China’, but if anything the demo makes clear is that it is a breakthrough evolution similar to what FromSoftware experienced when it made the leap from Dark Souls 3 to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
