Electronic Arts Cancels Apex Legends Mobile and Battlefield Mobile

Electronic Arts, the renowned video game publisher, has just made a bold move by announcing the termination of support for its highly-acclaimed mobile game, Apex Legends Mobile. The company has also decided to cancel the much-anticipated release of Battlefield Mobile, leaving many fans in disbelief.

As per reports from VentureBeat, the cancellation of Battlefield Mobile has come as a double blow for the gaming community, as it also marks the closure of Industrial Toys – the development studio led by Alex Seropian, the founder of Bungie and former CEO of the company. Electronic Arts acquired Industrial Toys back in 2018, making this decision all the more impactful.

Apex Legends Mobile, which was launched in May 2022, received widespread praise and recognition, being named the “Game of the Year” on both the App Store and Google Play.

Despite its success, the game will soon bid farewell to its players, who can spend their remaining virtual currency balances on in-game content until the title’s closure. However, no refunds will be provided for purchases made with real money.

Electronic Arts commented on their decision to halt the development of Battlefield Mobile, stating that “As the industry continues to evolve and our strategy of creating a deeply connected Battlefield ecosystem takes shape, we have decided to change direction in order to deliver our vision for the franchise and meet the expectations of our players.”

It’s always hard to determine if such decisions are the right or wrong move for a company, but one thing is for certain – Electronic Arts’ announcements have left a lasting impact on the gaming community and will be the subject of much discussion and speculation in the days to come.
