As the release of Hogwarts Legacy fast approaches, excitement is palpable among fans of the Harry Potter franchise. And while early access to this enchanting open world adventure created by Avalanche Software is just a few days away, some have already started packing their bags in preparation for their acceptance letter to Hogwarts.
One of the biggest questions on everyone’s minds has been about the potential for romance within the game. As an open world action RPG with a plethora of options, it’s only natural for fans to wonder if they’ll be able to develop relationships and experience love affairs with the various non-player characters (NPCs) they’ll encounter throughout the castle.
Fans of the Harry Potter universe will know that the series has always been known for its depiction of love and romance, with the experiences of its characters playing a key role in the story. So it’s no surprise that many have been eager to know whether Hogwarts Legacy will offer similar options.
Unfortunately, the answer to that question is no. Moira Squier, the game’s narrative director, and Kelly Murphy, gameplay designer, have confirmed to Game Pro that romance will not be included in the game’s role-playing experience.
While this may be disappointing news for some, it’s important to remember that there will still be plenty of other opportunities for adventure and excitement in the vast, magical world of Hogwarts Legacy.
At Hogwarts Legacy, we take pride in giving players the freedom to create their own unique story. That’s why we made a conscious decision to not include a romantic aspect in the game. After all, you are the protagonist and should be able to be whoever you want to be, without the constraints of romance.
However, this doesn’t mean that relationships and connections with other characters aren’t possible. In fact, you’ll have the opportunity to build friendships, meet new characters, and make decisions that will impact the outcome of your journey.
As for the question of whether Hogwarts Legacy will delve into romance, Squier declared that it would simply be too much to handle with the fact that you’re playing as a 15-year-old. Murphy added that there were some themes that the developers just didn’t want to touch.
So, what about the sport of Quidditch? Fans have been eagerly waiting for an answer and it has finally arrived. Yes, you’ll be able to play Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy!
Whether it will be introduced at launch or in the form of DLC is still up for debate, but one thing’s for sure: the game offers a rich and immersive experience, with over 100 side quests that can have an impact on the main story.
