Dwayne Johnson, better known as “The Rock,” has spoken out about the negative criticism surrounding his latest DC movie, Black Adam.

The actor addressed the issue during an interview with Variety on the red carpet at the 2023 Oscars. Johnson expressed that the team’s only goal was to deliver a movie that would live up to expectations, no matter the outcome.

“We did our best, surrounded ourselves with the best people, and delivered the best movie we could,” the actor stated, acknowledging that the final verdict was not up to him.

Black Adam was originally set to be part of the DCEU, with the possibility of the character facing off against Henry Cavill’s Superman. However, things changed after Peter Safran and James Gunn took the lead at DC Studios. Despite this, Johnson is confident that Black Adam could still be part of a new era in the DC universe.

During the Oscars interview, Johnson made a comparison between himself and Cavill to a championship-winning coach and player.

The actor lamented the missed opportunity to work together on the film, likening it to a new owner taking over a professional football team and making changes.

While Johnson did not address any specific criticisms of the movie, he defended the team’s efforts and expressed his pride in the project.

Despite the negativity surrounding the film, the actor’s statement makes it clear that he is content with the work they have accomplished.
