Filming for the Second Season of HBO Max’s Hit Series, The House of the Dragon, is Underway

Fans of the series can look forward to the premiere of the highly anticipated second season on HBO Max in 2024.

The success of the first season of The House of the Dragon, the prequel to the popular Game of Thrones series, has prompted HBO Max to renew the show for multiple seasons. As the production team gears up for the next season, fans are eagerly anticipating what’s in store.

Production for The House of the Dragon Season 2 Begins

HBO Max has officially announced the start of production for the second season of The House of the Dragon, which has already begun filming at Leavesden Studios in the UK.

Showrunner and executive producer, Ryan Condal, expressed his excitement about continuing to work with the talented cast and crew:

“The House of the Dragon is back. We are thrilled to be back shooting with members of the original family, as well as new talent on both sides of the camera. All your favorite characters will soon be plotting again at the council tables, marching with their armies, and riding their dragons into battle. We can’t wait to share what we have in store.”

George R.R. Martin, the author of the A Song of Ice and Fire series, upon which Game of Thrones and The House of the Dragon are based, will continue to serve as co-creator and executive producer.

Other executive producers include Sara Hess, Alan Taylor, Melissa Bernstein, Kevin de la Noy, Loni Peristere, and Vince Gerardis.

New Cast Members for Season 2

The upcoming season of The House of the Dragon will feature several new cast members, including Matt Smith (Morbius), Olivia Cooke (Slow Horses), Emma D’Arcy (Truth Seekers), Eve Best (Life in Squares), Steve Toussaint (Before We Die), Fabien Frankel (Pistol), Ewan Mitchell (The World on Fire), Tom Glynn-Carney (Mayflies), Sonoya Mizuno (Men), and Rhys Ifans (The Great Maurice), among others.

While an official release date has not been announced yet, fans can expect to see the highly anticipated second season of The House of the Dragon premiere on HBO Max sometime in 2024.
