The production for the much-awaited season 2 of the Game of Thrones spin-off series, House of the Dragon, has finally commenced. After the intense events of the season 1 finale, fans are eagerly anticipating the show’s return to find out what happens next in the Targaryen dynasty’s internal battle.

Ryan Condal, the showrunner of House of the Dragon, has been sharing tidbits about the upcoming season. In a recent interview with Deadline, Condal talked about the narrative approach the show would take in season 2.

He revealed that the season would adopt a more traditional Game of Thrones style and embrace the Shakespearean or Greek tragedy-like storytelling that made the original series so successful.

“I’m excited to pick up where we left off. Now we can fall back into the more traditional rhythms of storytelling and Game of Thrones. We’ve always talked about this particular story as a Shakespearean or Greek tragedy,” Condal stated.

The showrunner also teased what fans could expect from the next chapter in the Targaryen saga, now that Viserys is no longer in control. “This series is very much about a house tearing itself apart from the inside. Now that all of those pieces have been placed on the board, I’m very excited to tell the next chapter and see what happens,” he added.

The cast of season 2 includes big names like Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Eve Best, Tom Glynn-Carney, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Sonoya Mizuno, Rhys Ifans, and Ewan Mitchell. The House of the Dragon Season 2 will premiere on HBO Max sometime in 2024.

As fans eagerly wait for the new episodes to drop, the speculation and theories about what could happen next continue to run rampant. What are your predictions for the next season of House of the Dragon? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
