A Bittersweet Farewell: No Sequel for This Marvel Blockbuster

Fans must come to terms with the fact that they won't see these beloved Marvel heroes on screen again.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Over the past few weeks, the box office has been dominated by a certain Italian plumber with a penchant for relentless stomping attacks. The Super Mario Bros film has now surpassed 1 billion US dollars in sales, marking it as a resounding success.

However, as expected, the Nintendo hero has recently lost its top position in the cinema charts. The 32nd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe effortlessly claimed the number one spot.

James Gunn’s Farewell to the MCU with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, filmmaker James Gunn puts the finishing touches on his contributions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In 2014, he was a relatively unknown director when he scored a surprise hit with the first installment of the series.

After the second part in 2017, Gunn faced suspension from Marvel due to controversial older tweets. Having been pardoned, he now makes a bold statement with the conclusion of the Guardians trilogy before fully committing to his new role as a key player at DC.

The End of the Road for Guardians of the Galaxy

James Gunn is known for his unique filmmaking style and for engaging with his audience on social media. He has previously addressed allegations of favoritism in casting his wife, as well as endured derogatory comments about his cat posted on Twitter.

In a recent impromptu “Ask Me Anything” session on Twitter, Gunn shared some interesting insights into the production of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

The rules were simple: 1) questions had to be YES or NO questions, and 2) they had to be about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

During the session, Gunn was asked if he had spoken to Disney about the future of the Guardians. He responded with a concise “Yes.” However, when asked if there would ever be a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4, he answered with a definitive “No.”

This revelation has been a sad confirmation for fans who were hoping to see their favorite Marvel heroes on screen again.

As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand, it seems that the Guardians of the Galaxy series will end with the third installment, leaving fans to cherish the memories of these beloved characters.
