Old Grudges and New Bards: What’s Brewing in ‘The Witcher’s’ Third Season

As new details about the forthcoming third season of 'The Witcher' surface, Dandelion's greatest adversary takes center stage.

Fresh details are emerging about the highly anticipated third season of Netflix’s ‘The Witcher,’ slated for a late June premiere. In an exciting development, it has been revealed that another bard will be gracing the screen, adding a new twist to the narrative. This character is none other than Valdo Marx, the renowned troubadour from Ciradis, who is considered Dandelion’s fiercest rival.

Valdo Marx’s portrayal is far from complimentary, particularly when it comes to his opinion of Geralt. Marx sees Geralt as a “man devoid of talent, pandering to the mob’s preferences.”

According to the well-connected site, Redanian Intelligence, we can expect this intriguing character to make his appearance around the third or fourth episode. British actor Nathan Armakwei Laryea, known for his roles in “Doctors” and “Doctor Who,” has reportedly been cast to bring Valdo Marx to life.

Reclaiming the Fans’ Trust

As the third season of “The Witcher” takes shape, it faces the formidable task of winning back the trust of fans, some of whom have expressed frustration over the series’ divergence from its original source material.

Intriguingly, Valdo Marx isn’t entirely new to the series. Fans might recall a mention of Marx in the first season when, in the fifth episode, Dandelion briefly took hold of Geralt’s genie jar. During this moment, the bard expressed a wish for his musical competitor to succumb to a severe illness, potentially leading to his demise.

The third season of the Netflix series is formatted into two parts. The first part is set to launch on June 29, with the second part following nearly a month later on July 27. A trailer for the forthcoming season has already been released, but it appears to have received mixed reactions.

Further stirring the pot, it has been announced that this season will be Henry Cavill’s final appearance as the titular character. From the fourth season onwards, the torch will be passed to Liam Hemsworth to carry on the legacy of ‘The Witcher.’

As fans eagerly await the premiere, the introduction of new characters and the ensuing drama promise to keep the excitement alive.
