When news of the first Olympic Esports Week emerged in March, reactions to the selected titles for the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) premier esports event were mixed.

Many criticized the attempt to replicate real sports from the Olympic Games, resulting in some odd-sounding names on the roster.

However, it has now been revealed that one of the most successful gaming brands in recent years will also join the lineup.

Fortnite’s Debut at the Esports Olympiad

The IOC has officially announced that Fortnite will be featured during Olympic Esports Week. Competing players from the Champion Series will participate in a sharpshooting contest throughout the week.

A virtual island has been specially designed within the game for this competition, and fans can follow the event on the island itself or via live stream on the Olympic Games website.

Olympic Esports Week is scheduled to take place from June 22-25 at the Suntec Center in Singapore. Prior to Fortnite’s inclusion, NBA 2K23, Rocket League, and Gran Turismo 7 were considered the marquee titles at the Esports Olympiad.

The success of this venture remains uncertain, but the addition of well-known titles like Fortnite continues to enhance the event’s appeal.
