The fervor in the Persona fan community continues to grow as mounting evidence points towards Atlus, the publisher, planning a remake of the fan-favorite 2006 release, Persona 3.
Previous rumors of a potential remake have been circulating, and a recent domain purchase by the publisher only adds more speculation to the mix.
New Domain Purchase: A Hint Towards a Remake?
Atlus has recently updated the domain name “P3RE,” leading fans to speculate that an announcement about a Persona 3 Remake or Persona 3 Reloaded could be on the horizon.
The term “Reloaded” might be a nod to the “Evoker” guns used by characters in the game to venture into Tartarus, the mystical world filled with demons that exists within The Dark Hour.
Potential Announcements Loom
With the commencement of the Summer Game Fest today, there are several key presentations where Atlus might choose to make the much-awaited reveal. Notable opportunities could be tonight’s kick-off show, hosted by Geoff Keighley, or Sunday’s Xbox Games Showcase.
Despite the excitement, it’s important to remember that the Persona 3 remake remains speculative at this point. However, given the overwhelming success of Persona 4 Golden’s simple PC port, it’s reasonable to think that a modernized Persona 3: FES — featuring upgraded visuals and mechanics — would prove highly lucrative.
Regardless of whether “P3R” makes an appearance or not, the Summer Game Fest stream is set to start today at 12:00 PT / 15:00 ET / 20:00 BST.
