While the upcoming film Oppenheimer boasts an epic three-hour runtime, lead actor Cillian Murphy revealed that the movie was created in an astonishingly short period.
During an interview on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast (via Variety), Murphy shared that the production team completed the film in just 57 days. This timeframe is notably quicker compared to director Christopher Nolan’s previous projects, such as Dunkirk, which took 68 days to shoot, and Tenet, which spanned 96 days.
An Independent Feel with Grand Sets
Despite the magnitude of the film’s sets, Murphy expressed that the process felt like being on an independent movie set. The actor emphasized the stripped-down nature of the production, with only Nolan, the cameraman, and the boom operator present during filming.
This minimalist approach even extended to the absence of video villages and monitors typically seen on larger film sets. Murphy described Nolan as a highly analog filmmaker, emphasizing his focus on the core elements of storytelling.

In Oppenheimer, Cillian Murphy steps into the role of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the renowned American theoretical physicist and leader of the secretive Los Alamos Laboratory during World War II.
