Throughout the early access period of Baldur’s Gate 3, players have been captivated by a particular character named Halsin, a Druid NPC and potential companion who can be rescued from imprisonment. However, Halsin’s potential extends far beyond his initial introduction.
Love in Bear Form
Halsin, being a Druid, possesses the ability to “wildshape” and temporarily transform into a bear. In an unexpected turn of events, a romance cutscene showcases Halsin in his bear form. This unusual encounter was unveiled during a Panel From Hell livestream, which ultimately faced censorship on TikTok, leading to the stream being taken offline prematurely.
Michael Douse, Larian’s Director of Publishing, humorously commented on the situation, stating, “TikTok canceled our stream because it was too artistic and they don’t understand.”
In an interview with IGN, Swen Vincke, the CEO of Larian, described the bear sex scene in Baldur’s Gate 3 as “hilarious” and emphasized the comedic nature of the moment. The scene has received mixed reactions, with many finding it amusing and unexpected.

Fans have eagerly searched through the game’s files, datamining for voice lines and assets that hinted at Halsin’s potential as a romance option. Now, their speculations have been confirmed.
Lead writer Adam Smith shed light on the development team’s perspective, stating, “Have you ever considered the joys and pleasures of sexual congress with a wildshaped Druid? Because at Larian, we have, and ultimately landed on the side of giving the people what they want: tender, consensual romance with a man temporarily transformed into a grizzly bear.”
Baldur’s Gate 3: A Vast and Expansive Adventure
Baldur’s Gate 3, a sprawling open-ended Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game from the creators of the Divinity: Original Sin series, offers a vast and immersive experience. The PC version’s release date has been moved forward from August 31 to August 3 to avoid competing with major titles such as Bethesda’s highly anticipated Starfield.

According to Vincke, a standard playthrough of Baldur’s Gate 3 takes approximately 75 to 100 hours. However, for players aiming to explore every facet of the game, that playtime is expected to double.
