Take-Two Interactive Halts Real-Life GTA Restaurant Inspired by GTA 5

Fans' ambitious attempt to bring GTA food chains to life faces legal hurdles as Take-Two Interactive intervenes.

Grand Theft Auto is not just a video game franchise; it’s a satirical reflection of real life. Fans have been captivated by the immersive world of Grand Theft Auto V, leading them to bring one of the game’s iconic food chains to life. However, their dreams have been crushed as Take-Two Interactive, the publisher of GTA, intervened with legal action.

In 2022, a group of dedicated enthusiasts made the Cluckin’ Bell food chain from Grand Theft Auto V a reality in San Diego, California during the weekend of San Diego Comic-Con. The event, organized by Smokin J’s BBQ and boyworldwide, a Las Vegas fashion company, successfully recreated the virtual eatery.

Buoyed by the positive response, the organizers announced plans for an expanded event in two parts this year. Alongside the return of Cluckin’ Bell, they aimed to bring Burger Shot, another popular food franchise from the game, to life. Fans eagerly anticipated indulging in the real-world counterparts of these beloved GTA landmarks. However, Take-Two Interactive had different plans.

Take-Two Interactive Slams the Brakes

Just hours before the scheduled opening of Burger Shot, Take-Two Interactive delivered a devastating cease and desist order to the event organizers, warning of potential legal repercussions. The sudden intervention abruptly canceled the Burger Shot-themed event, leaving fans disappointed and organizers scrambling to respond.

Despite the setback, there is a silver lining. The organizers, determined to salvage the event, managed to find a way to proceed with the second part of their plans. They decided to proceed with the Cluckin’ Bell installation, albeit with a slight modification to its name. The establishment would now be called “Don’t Cluckin Tell.” Fans would still have the opportunity to experience the Cluckin’ Bell-inspired event.

Legal Quirks and a Changed Venue

The modified event, Don’t Cluckin Tell, will take place from July 19-23 at 751 4th Ave in San Diego. The organizers hope that by making this alteration, they can avoid further legal entanglements with Take-Two Interactive. Fans who were eagerly anticipating the Burger Shot experience now face disappointment, but they can still relish the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of Cluckin’ Bell.

Take-Two Interactive’s actions have generated mixed reactions among fans and enthusiasts. The abrupt cancellation of the Burger Shot event left many disappointed, while the modified Cluckin’ Bell installation offers a glimmer of hope.
