Mortal Kombat 1 Live-Action Trailer Features Dave Bautista in Fun Homage

Dave Bautista Teams Up with Warner Bros. Games for a Playful Tribute to Classic Mortal Kombat Trailer

Mortal Kombat 1

Warner Bros. Games has recently revealed an exciting live-action trailer for Mortal Kombat 1, starring none other than Dave Bautista. In a playful nod to the iconic “Mortal Monday” live-action trailer from 1993, this new video showcases the Guardians of the Galaxy actor as he roams around, encouraging people to engage in combat to the end.

In the trailer titled “It’s In Our Blood,” directed by commercials director Tom Kuntz and featuring cinematography by Oscar-nominated Matthew Libatique (known for A Star is Born), Dave Bautista takes the spotlight. Drawing inspiration from the past, the trailer takes viewers on a journey through various settings.

Bautista makes his way to a library, a coffee shop, a symphony orchestra, a pottery studio, and a park, urging people to break from their routine and let out a roaring “MORTAL KOMBAT!” instead.

Bautista’s Connection to Mortal Kombat

Sharing his excitement about the project, Bautista expressed his personal connection to the Mortal Kombat franchise. He said, “I vividly remember the original Mortal Monday commercial, especially the iconic scream. That’s what started my journey as a fan of Mortal Kombat, which continues to this day 30 years later. I’m very thrilled and honored to be a part of the game’s legacy.”

Mortal Kombat 1 is set to launch on September 14, with early access available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC. The official release for all platforms is scheduled for September 19.

The game boasts an extensive cast of characters, including fan-favorites like Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, and more. Interestingly, the roster also includes characters from different universes, such as Peacemaker from Suicide Squad and Homelander from The Boys.

Dave Bautista’s collaboration with Warner Bros. Games in this live-action trailer brings a joyful homage to the history of Mortal Kombat. The fusion of nostalgia and excitement sets the stage for the upcoming game release, as fans gear up to immerse themselves in a new chapter of the beloved franchise.
