Phasmophobia Console Launch Faces Brief Delay to October Following Office Incident

Remember Phasmophobia, the eerie horror game that caught the attention of gamers and streamers when it first launched on PC in September 2020? Well, it’s gearing up to make its way onto PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, but a little hiccup just popped up.

The anticipated Early Access console launch has been shifted from August to October, landing perfectly in the week leading up to Halloween.

The studio behind Phasmophobia, Kinetic Games, recently shared the news on Twitter. They revealed that the delay is due to an unexpected “fire incident” that occurred in their office building.

On top of that, some unforeseen development challenges cropped up. This double whammy prompted them to give the game a bit more time, hoping to polish and refine the console versions.

A Silver Lining for Halloween Thrills

Don’t fret too much—the delay isn’t terribly long. While console players wait, PC gamers can revel in the new Ascension update, which brings a bunch of changes including a fresh leveling system with new progression rates, unlocks, and even a prestige system. The update also tidies up a few pesky bugs.

For PS5 owners, there’s even more excitement on the horizon. A version for the upcoming PS VR2 is in the works. Plus, the promise of crossplay means friends can unite in fear regardless of their gaming platform.

Phasmophobia’s slight delay might just work in its favor, landing it in the perfect eerie season. However, it’ll be facing some fierce contenders in October, with horror heavyweights like Alan Wake 2 and Alone in the Dark also vying for attention.
