Call of Duty Unleashes a Spine-Chilling Lineup of Operators, Including Diablo IV’s Villains

In a spine-tingling announcement, Activision has unveiled the latest roster of crossover operators for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Warzone. Brace yourselves for a collision of worlds as the infamous Succubi queen, Lilith, and the fallen archangel Inarius from Diablo IV join the battlefield, along with a parade of other horror icons like Spawn and Evil Dead’s Ash Williams. Get ready for a bloodbath like no other.

Activision dropped the bombshell about Season 6 operators on Thursday, teasing a host of horror-themed content, including the eagerly anticipated return of The Haunting event in October. The seasonal update is set to go live on September 27 and promises to include a Doom-themed bundle complete with a chainsaw.

Al Simmons, better known as Spawn, will make his debut as one of the new operators, accompanied by a slew of Spawn-related skins, including some for the titular superhero, as well as Creepy Clown and Violator.

However, Lilith, the primary antagonist from Diablo IV, and the enigmatic Inarius, will be offered as separate purchases in the in-game shop. They’ll be joined by the likes of Skeletor (of He-Man fame), Ash Williams (from Evil Dead 2), and Alucard (from Hellsing).

The prospect of these characters rubbing shoulders with the likes of rapper Nicki Minaj, NBA star Kevin Durant, and the enigmatic Burger King mascot in the Call of Duty sandbox is nothing short of intriguing. This upcoming event should serve as a thrilling distraction until Modern Warfare 3 hits the shelves on November 10.

For those who may not have been keeping up, Call of Duty has fully embraced the spirit of Fortnite, continually spicing things up with daring crossovers from the diverse realms of pop culture. Just this past July, the game featured characters from Amazon Prime’s superhero dramedy, The Boys, complete with Temp V abilities that could rival even Homelander’s infamous red-eye lasers.

While some purists lament the levity of these crossover events, arguing that they undermine the series’ historically “serious” war-shooter identity, others relish the ever-changing roster of characters and the unique seasonal experiences, albeit sometimes accompanied by grind-heavy challenges and in-game costs. On the plus side, the weapons, such as those found in the Doom bundle, will carry over into the highly anticipated Modern Warfare 3.
