Setting Sail for Serenity: Sea of Thieves’ Safer Seas Mode Offers a PvP Break

Rare's Popular Pirate Game Expands Horizons with Safer Seas and Thrilling Features.

Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves, the beloved pirate-themed multiplayer adventure, has always been a treacherous voyage, filled with perilous encounters and the constant threat of player-versus-player (PvP) skirmishes. However, Rare, the game’s developer, has charted a new course with Season 10, introducing a more relaxed gameplay option: Safer Seas.

Safer Seas is a game mode designed to offer players a chance to explore the game’s vast world without the looming specter of PvP encounters. In this mode, adventurers can progress through the ranks of most Trading Companies, except for Athena’s Fortune and the Reaper’s Bonus. While Gold and Reputation gains are slightly reduced, Seasonal Renown accrues at the same rate as in the original game mode, now dubbed “High Seas.”

Safer Seas is the ideal setting for players to dive into the captivating Tall Tales quest content, earn coveted achievements, and master the intricacies of the pirate simulation.

While High Seas remains the primary means of experiencing the game’s full depth, including Captaincy Features and Pirate Legend content, Safer Seas provides a welcoming environment for those looking to acclimate themselves to Sea of Thieves.

Guilds: Sailing Together Under a Common Banner

Season 10 of Sea of Thieves also introduces Guilds, a dynamic feature that allows up to 24 players to unite under a shared banner, motto, and name. Guilds function seamlessly, enabling members to support one another asynchronously.

For instance, players can pledge their personally customized Captaincy ships, granting their friends the opportunity to sail them—even when the ship’s owner is offline or absent from the session.

Adding an extra layer of excitement, Season 10 introduces a competitive Voyage known as The Skull of Siren Song. Crews must engage in a race against rival teams to locate a locked chest and its corresponding key. Upon unlocking the chest, a formidable skull is revealed, destined for Captain Briggsy.

During this event, all players on the server have the chance to participate, injecting a sense of competition into the treasure hunt. The skull wields incredible power, capable of unleashing frosty waves, yet it also imposes a decelerating effect on any ship fortunate enough to carry it.

Setting Sail into Season 10: A Date to Remember

Season 10 is poised to set sail on October 19, promising a wealth of new experiences and adventures. Sea of Thieves is available on both PC and Xbox, and subscribers to Xbox Game Pass can easily embark on their pirate escapades.

Rare’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the Sea of Thieves experience ensures that players can explore the game’s depths, whether seeking the thrill of PvP battles or the tranquility of Safer Seas.
